Are the new Fender American Standard 5 string basses quarter sawn or flat sawn necks.

Secondly, has anyone had experience with Melancon Basses from Louisiana?

The American Standards are flat sawn. To my knowledge, only the Fender Custom Shop uses quartersawn.

    I've never heard of Melancon.

Quartersawn necks are now a 'luxury' while they should be standard IMO.

Old instruments, USA Lakland and G&L...

the Eric Johnson Strat has a quartersawn neck.

If i understand correctly, Quartersawn necks are one advantage of 'lawsuit era' japanese copies often had over their American counterparts.

    High end vintage ibanez?

  4. Do a "quartersawn" archive search ;)
