***You can skip this part, long rambling excuse as to why I have to ask these questions***

The last head I bought was a Peavy Mark III in 1985 or so, which was pretty high end and advanced at the time. In 1993 my son was born, I had pretty much given up bands, and stopped playing, moved on to other things. A couple months ago a reunion show came together for an old band, and I pulled out my Mark III. It blew a fuse and I took it in for repairs, needed a new cap and it was good to go. The show was fun and a big hit, so we talked about putting it back together and have been rehearsing. My amp starts crapping out after a couple hours though, and the cab is too heavy for this old man nowdays, so decided to get something different. After much consideration, I decided on a GK 800RB with a 115RBH and a 410RBH. Only... I don't have the 410RBH yet and picked up something on the cheap to fill in until the right deal comes along.

OK, THIS IS WHAT ACTUALLY MATTERS

My 800RB will be here Monday, and Monday night I have rehearsal, so I'll be figuring it out at rehearsal. Not the best situation, but it is what it is.

I have a RBH 115 cab and an Ampeg SVT 210 cab to fill in until I can get the right deal on a used RBH 410

I downloaded the manuals for all of them. The Ampeg is rated at 200 watts @ 8 ohms. The 115 is 400 watts @ 8 ohms. The manual for the 800RB talks about the 2 amps and bi-amp capability, but I've never even used one. Something about speakon cables... the Ampeg has a 1/4" in and out is all.

What's the best way to hook the cabs up, configuration-wise?
What cables do I need to have on hand?

More excuses and stuff that doesn't matter

Yes, I know it sounds idiotic to buy a head I've never even tried out. I'm trusting a friend who knows the sound I like and has one, but he's off on a camping trip and can't get ahold of him until too late to ask.

Do I need one of those speakon cables or are 1/4" all I need?

    No speakons. 1/4" speaker cable.

    Cool, thanks!

  6. the Gk rb800 has 100 watt @8ohm outputs for mid/highs and a 300 watt @4ohm outputs for lows but will run full range via a switch
on the front panel ...i use to use 2x15 cab @4ohms through the 300watt low output and a 4x10 cab @8ohms through the 100 watt
    output ...very versatile amp
so you could also link both cabs to give a load of 4ohms and then plug it into the 300 watt @4ohms output on your amp and then run it full range ...it should sound great enjoy
