Questions/tips from 8 string players.

    I will be finishing up my current bass soon, and think for my next project I will make a Les Paul style 8-string, but have a few questions. I cannot decide if I want the fundamental string on top or bottom. Any suggestions for either set up would be appreciated. One better than the other for pick or fingers?

    Next, do you normally set up the octave and fundamental at the same height, as in flush either with the pickup, or away from the pickup?

    Last, it seems that 4 string pickups are the way to go, is this off base?

    Cool questions. I have an 8 string bridge and a 10 string bridge that I have been setting aside waiting to use "someday" It will be interesting to see what answers you get. Also what should the width be at the nut?
