I just got a brand new Rick 4003 delivered. I will take it to get set up this week - action a little high for my taste - but plan to use it in rehearsal tonight and would like to take off that metal pick-up plate or protector. Can I just unscrew it and take it off or is there more to it than that, before I start messing too much with it? I used to have a Rick 20 years ago and can't remember what I did to take it off - kind of remember springs being in there but might be wrong. Thanks!
You got to go after the smaller screws that secure the frame to the body. Get in there, and it should be obvious at that point. It has been a while, so I do not have step by step details, but take your time and dont let a screwdriver slip.
Congrats on the new rick. This website will be your new reference manual: http://www.joeysbassnotes.com/Rick_maint.htm#rem
