quick question/quick answer

    does my preamp have to be the same amount of ohms as my head or cab?????

    no...and there's a lot more to it than just impedance.

    my friend is setting up an amp rig for his trumpet and i didnt know whether or not a preamp needed to be the same ohmage as the head or cab because i dont use a preamp

    So he's using a preamp, power amp and a speaker cabinet or two?

    With preamp and power amp matching, the most important thing to worry about is whether the preamp has a high enough output voltage to drive the power amp to full output. What preamp and power amp are being used?
