Quick Question...

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Osama_Spears, Jul 1, 2003.

  1. Ok...I am really interested in buying a Behringer 300 watt amp (http://www.zzounds.com/item--BEHBX3000T)

    However,I have a question...

I noticed the back of the amp says "1x4 ohms or 2x8"

Now...Does this mean I cannot use one(1) 8ohm cabinet in it for it to be able to function w/o exploding anything?

I am not understanding this...please help

    thanks.

It is saying that for optimum performance, put 1 4 ohm cab, or 2 8 ohm (which equals 4 ohms) cabs.

If you use one 8 ohm cabinet, it will just put out less power, if it follows the rules of almost every other SS amp.

  3. ok...thats what I thought.

So,how many watts we talkin' here? 150-160?

    Thank you....

Not exactly sure, probably somewhere around 200, give or take a few?

It varies from amp to amp but you generally lose something like 30% . So 210watts at 8 ohms or there abouts.

  6. Wait so can I not power an 8-ohm cab with my SVT-2 Pro?!?! noooooooo!

The Behringer is Solid state but your SVT is tube

I'm no expert on tubes because I don't use em.

But have a look at THIS THREAD and pay attention to the post from Psycho Bass Guy (TB's tube expert). This is just an example of what I was talking about.
