R Bass Question

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by waytoodeep03, Dec 7, 2005.

  1. Is there a main website? Also what is the difference between this and F bass? Or is one of the makers just not original in making up names for the basses?

  2. Here you go :

Nope these are two indipendant builders. I havent had the pleasure of trying out F-basses but I have a 5 str. R-bass and I absaloutly love it :smug:

  3. Don't mean to be rude but that site needs alot of work. There is really no information or pictures to view. Not very consumer friendly

Excellent builder, he was a student of the famous Carl Thompson so you know what to expect. One of my favorite builders infact.

I have had several, and my main bass right now is an R bass 4 with a mahogany body, quilted maple top, bloodwood board and Nordstrand SE jazz pickups under maple/bloodwood covers and a U-Retro preamp (which I got from Steve Barr at Vintagebass.com....a GREAT guy to deal with, by the way...highly recommended). It has insanely low action, super-punchy, and plays like liquid butter. One of the hottest basses that I've ever had.

I've played maybe 4 different R Basses and was very impressed each time. Excellent craftsmanship.
