I have my eye on another 6 right now (again!!@). I just got the big splits from Nordstrand that I custom ordered ($240) for these pickup covers. Killer bass. Very precise tone with amazing sustain. Ash body with maple neck and Jatoba FB (like ebony). 34" scale and 19mm spacing. Weighs 10.5 lbs according to my crappy scale. Priced for quick sale at $1700 obo shipped. No trades please. I know what I want.
I forgot to mention a few things.... this bass went back to Ray about 4-5 months ago for a brass bridge and a complete going over. It plays perfectly. I also want to mention that I need the bass all this week for a pit gig I'm doing. Reading on 6 string makes my life so much easier so it would be available at the earliest Monday next week.
No case and the Nordy single coils that came with it are not included. Just what's in the pics. It will be very well packed and insured shipping is included. Also, the new bridge is all chrome and 19mm spacing. The original bridge was 20mm aluminum (that's the one in the pics). And......some more pics
Were the strings coming off of the neck when you had the 20 mm bridge on the bass? It looks like they were very close to the edge of the neck. I assume that there isn't any difference in appearance due to changing the bridge since they were the same size What pickups are currently on the bass? Barts? Were they removed and then re-installed? Great bass.
I just wanted the string spacing to be a little narrower and I also prefer brass bridges to aluminum for the tone and sustain. New bridge is all chrome, not matt and chrome. I guess I need to take a few pics.... PU's are Nordstrand big splits. I talked to Adrian over at Nordstrand for quite a while trying to figure out what would work best in this bass (BTW, he was super helpful and always returned my emails). We decided on the big splits. They had to custom build them to fit inside the PU covers and also get the right spacing which took about 6 weeks and cost me $240. They sound awesome. Bigger in the low mids but still snappy on top. With the close PU spacing ala Ken Smith, it made all the difference. The bass still has a very precise, articulate sound but is more natural on the low end.
I'd give it a little more time. You've even got me thinking about it! I bet there are a couple more people trying to get there act together.
I know there are a few folks interested but I hate to take such a big hit and my GAS is not quite as intense as it was a few days ago. Plus this bass is the shizzle. Another 24 hours and then I'll keep it.
OK, I'm pulling this one for now. All of you that PMed me and want the bass. Get in touch via PM and maybe we can work something out later. Adios...........
Just bought another 6 and want to move this to pay for it. Bring some offers. I may be open to partial trades but I need to net $1k. I'm in the mood to make a deal.
