For those of you old enough to remember the Bob Newhart Show. She also played Carol the secretary. Another great character.

  7. I remember them saying a main Simpson's character was being killed off, I wonder if it was in advance of Wallace's illness?

Such a shame, wished with her family.

Wow, I remember her from the Newhart show but never made the connection w/ The Simpsons character despite seeing her name in the credits for the last gazillion years!

Simpsons executive producer Al Jean posted a comment on Facebook saying the decision to "kill off" a character was not related to Marcia's illness.

  13. Don't forget her chronic funniness with the drunks on Matchgame.

Awww.:( I knew her first from Bob Newhart's show, but she was excellent in both roles. RIP.

  15. Oh my word, that's sad.
Edna Krabappel was a fantastic character, and she had a lot of those original, sharp observational lines in The Simpsons which take you by surprise and make you laugh unexpectedly. I always felt that Marcia's delivery of the lines was one of the best in The Simpsons - she really made the character come alive and seem real to you. She was obviously a wonderfully talented comic performer and actor.

God bless you, Marcia. You were an incredible talent, and you will be missed very much.

Dearest Edna, I must leave you. Why, I cannot say. Where, you cannot know. How I will get there, I haven't decided yet. But one thing I can tell you, any time I hear the wind blow it will whisper the name Edna. And so let us part with a love that will echo through the ages. ---Woodrow

PS Truly, yours is a butt that won't quit.
