So the new Rush DVD comes out tomorrow, who's going to go pick it up? I am, it sound pretty awesome. One disc of live footage from a Frankfurt, Germany show on the R30 tour and one disc of old live footage and other rare stuff.
im definately picking it up tomorrow..im not gonna be able to sleep tonight..i cant wait to see them in the studio recording n stuff...
I plan on getting a copy - maybe Santa will bring it this year. I'm looking forward to it, but it seems like a duplication of effort given they last released a similar DVD in Rio. I was hoping more for an album of new material to follow-up Vapor Trails. My brother, also a big Rush fan,. thinks this might be their "farewell" CD/DVD release. Hope not.
i got the dvd/cd yesterday...its pretty kick ass..lots of old interviews..damn geddy was even uglier then but he still played a mean bass back then too.. i like the video alot better then rush in rio
I can't wait to pick it up... I'm kind of strapped for cash considering I'm trying to buy a Geddy Lee sig bass. So I might get it for Christmas. I can't wait to see it though.
Picked this up yesterday. I'm kind of disappointed with the set list (no YYZ, Closer to The Heart, The Trees), but overall I think it is a very good dvd, also since those songs are on the Rush in Rio dvd I'm not too disappointed.
It's on my xmas list. I hope it isn't the "farewell" release, but I would rather see them go out when they are still on top of their game instead of dragging it out.
I picked it up at 10:00 Yesterday (when the store opened) and I have to say it's incredible! Mark Wilson
If you're worried about this being their farewell check this article out from last month. They mostly talk about the R30 dvd but towards the end it mentions that they are starting work on a new studio album.
Well, here it is at long last and it lived up to my expectations entirely! The live in Germany disc is brilliantly produced. You can hear virtually EVERY note and nuance of each individual instrument---most notably, Geddy's juicy jazz bass tone. I will ALWAYS have a soft spot in my heart though for the Rickenbacker tone he achieves on the Exit Stage Left video. I swear that thing sounds like a vicious, evil tractor throughout the course of that show! (and yes, when he picks up the doubleneck during Xanadu, it sounds even MORE EVIL). Regarding the second disc, any bassist would be hard pressed NOT finding him/herself reaching for the "rewind" key during the snazzy, jazzy lick in La Villa Strangiato (and THAT DRUM PATTERN underneath it!!!)...did I mention I'm a fan of this band?
To those who havent gotten the video there is still time to ask santa..i think its a great video..they seem happy as pigs in sh t to be playing again
I bought it, got home, handed it to my wife and said: "I want this for Christmas." She did the same thing with sone Kiss DVD.
My wife told me she almost bought this for christmas but I beat her to it *lol* I like it, but aren't there supposed to be different angles on the DVD?
the only additional stuff i knew about were the old school interviews and old show footage..i didnt know about the angle thing
