rack bass heads vs. free standing guitar amps

    now-a-days it seems like unless you're buying a classic (or classic styled) ampeg head, or some new SWR Workingmans head, you can rarely find a new, brandname bass amp in a free-standing box, they are all rackmount. At the same time though, guitar heads always almost come in free standing enclosures, with of course, the exception of various MIDI preamps, effects, and tube power amps. Does anyone have a reason or an interesting theory as to how this difference in "packaging" came to be.

    Yep. Coz guitarists are too stupid to care :)

    Personally I love that everything it standardised. It makes it that little bit easier to transport your gear in a way which protects it.
