    1. i cant see why anyone would want a non shallow case. i havent found any equipment that is very long. power conditioners, tuners and preamps are shallow.

    2. where can you get rack accessories such as blank plates to seal off non used space.

    cheers

1 - My Yamaha poweramp will not fit in a shallow rack.

2 - online retail, you can get them from Sweetwater.

-Most poweramps intended for PA are very deep (widely used in the bass world because of their reliability and sound characteristics, i.e. very true). So are some of the older rackmount heads. You´d also need a deep case, if you wanted to mount something (a powerstrip or such) to the rear rack rails...

-Blanking plates can be found at most pro-audio stores.

  4. Why use blanking plates instead of installing a rack drawer?

Oh, that's right, you have a shallow case.:D

Genz benz GBE 750 and 1200. Those are just two i can think of right off the top of my head. I've seen lots of other stuff but don't remember exact details. Lots of RF rack equipment won't fit in shallow racks either. Though most musicians will never see that stuff, it still is the same beast (19'' width and same rack-space measurements).

It's the kind of stuff my company works with. For some reason everything rack-related has similar standards. (which is probably a good thing) I don't see what the problem is though? Sell your deep rack and buy a shallow one if you're not using the space? :meh:

Yeah, i think we're just spoiled as bassists, since the technology put into our equipment allows a lot of it to be shallow-fitted. I just did a quick search, and here's a perfect example of a rack with all sorts of things in it, with all kinds of different depths:

Lots of pro-audio stuff isn't shallow either. At least one thing in this rack isn't shallow:

I don't think my SVT 3-pro would have fit in a shallow rack...

EDIT: Or maybe my rack is shallow and I just didn't know it. It looks standard size to me...

My Mackie power amps are too deep for a shallow case.

I have a shallow rack for shallow rack gear, and a deep rack for deep rack gear.

It seems to work out OK.

Hmmm, my amp wouldn't fit in a shallow rack, either. I wonder if that's why they make different ones,....hmmmm.

    whatta concept!

things like the 700RB i previously owned and the 400+ i own now will fit in a shallow rack just fine. the power amps in my PA OTOH, will not--- some of those even have appointments for attaching to the rear rail (of a full-depth rack case, for example).
