I'm a long time Trace Elliot dual comp user, and its really made me a believer in dual band compression on bass. When you slap it compresses the highs and smooths things out, and when you play fingerstyle it compresses the lows more making for that "punch" we all love, less boom, and smoother levels in the mix. The DC-24 has the same great effect on my levels but SOUNDS SO MUCH BETTER its blowing my mind. It really lets through more of the character of my basses, and of my playing. Its not the most transparent comp I've used, thats the RNC, and frankly I like some comp color. The DC-24 affects the tone only in subtle and positive ways. I've used the trace, LA-style tube comps, dbx160s, avalon's comp ... the DC-24 smokes them all The only downside is the XLR only hookups.
