I've been wondering if anyone could name me the rare fenders that have come out over the time and just gone away.. like special editions and such..

    Fender Prodigy Bass

    Fender Jazz Bass special

    Fender Jazz Bass Plus

has fender ever made a jazz bass like this one ? I want it :D

  2. I've played the Jazz Bass special once. The local GC had one in stock a few months ago, I liked it.
As for the last pic. That's Geddy Lee. I think his usual bass is black and white, but it's a Fender Jazz also. I assume this one is the same just with a different color. If that's the case, then yes. You can get a Geddy Lee signature model Jazz Bass. But I've never seen Geddy use a red one.

I have a Fender Jazz Bass Special (black) that I bought new in '87. I put Seymour Duncan active pups in it in '92 - the ones with the 3 band eq right on the pup. It served me well until about '98, but it's in dire need of a fret job that I've been neglecting. Playing it with a drumstick and a pair of pliers (or shot glass...) didn't help the body either.

I'm gonna check on that fret job pretty soon.

I've got a '87 Jazz Special fretless, nice bass.

Another dead Fender was the Coronado (dead for good reason).

If I'm not mistaken, the red bass Geddy is playing is a custom shop job, done up pretty much like his signature bass (note the Badass). He's used it live recently for doing 2112 Overture/Temples. I'm pretty sure he has all the strings tuned down a full step (DGCF) so it's easier for him to sing the shrieking vocals and not have to re-learn the song.

Anyone ever play a Prophecy II? I've been looking around for one to check out but to no avail.

That's the one Geddy found in a pawn shop. He has it tuned down a halfstep for 2112 mainly.
I'm not 100% sure, but if you look closely, the body of his basses, and the 72 (or 75, whatever) Jazz basses are a bit different. I think that bass he found had a 70's neck put on it.

What about teh Fender Heavy Metal ones (With 3 pickups like a Strat...)
  14. Lovin' that red Jazz Geddy is using. Another weird bass I saw him use is a Fender Jazz like his sig model only with a black pickguard. He played in the Rush In Rio DVD.
  15. Walnut basses and the fretless p?
