Had this listed once before but pulled it down because I loved it too much. Putting it back up now, upgraded and improved, because I have since had a custom tribute version of this bass made for me in a shorter scale and weighing a bit less (my shoulder is screwed up) - thanks to Gildaxe (JIO/Geo) and Lowe (Brad).

Bought this one from a fellow TBer a couple years ago after I practically begged him to sell it to me for a long time; that's how much I dug this bass.

So what’s this wild brown beast? It’s basically a P bass, but made in far-out vintage fashion with a sort of steampunk style by Charles Lindert, in Washington state, in 1997. I’ve only ever seen 3 of these basses, even in pictures (2 in chocolate brown including this one, and 1 red) but Charles told me a couple years back that he made a few. I think the basses were only made in the USA as well - they didn’t get import versions like the guitar models did.

This thing is unique in many ways - the textured finish, the chambered-but-still-heavy construction (9.63 lbs), the thumbs-up headstock, the tweed grillecloth inserts over the chambering, and my favorite neck profile of all time: "Escape velocity"...it’s an asymmetrical half-round neck with the flat part on the thumb side! That means it feels to your thumb like a super flat modern neck, while your fingers still have more of a classic P profile under them. Hard to describe but I wish all my instruments had this profile. That neck profile and the textured finish were exclusive to Lindert’s USA models, too; the Korean models of the guitars have smooth gloss finishes and normal neck profiles, so if you’re looking at this brand keep that in mind!

    Upgrades from stock:
    - Actual Fender pickup and pots
    - Gotoh Resolite tuners (better than ultralites imho, and also even lighter)
    - Dunlop straplocks

Condition is pretty great with a couple finish cracks around the horns’ interiors near the neck pocket (not structural; see photos) and a couple bumps/dings here and there. One of the screws on the back is missing its collar/washer because while I had the bass apart, I dropped and stepped on one screw collar and smashed it way out of shape.

Includes pictured vintage case. It’s nothing fancy, but works alright =0)

Love it! Great condition for a 23 year old bass.
I have a Lindert Tele style, very light, my guitar tech went nuts over it when i took it to him for set up work a few years ago.
Hard to believe your bass weighs in at over 9 pounds.

I had a Twister-T tele style guitar awhile back, but it was one of the korean ones, not a USA model. Awesome stuff, got me hooked on the brand - later I had a Les Paul style one too.
The USA ones are heavy probably because of the textured 'bedliner' type finish and the core that is literally MDF. Solid AF but also very heavy (and the tone is as P as you can get, tonewood be damned.)

Dropping the price here to 850 shipped OBO!
