A great deal for a fellow Canadian! Designed by John Page, these were only made for one year in 1985-1986 and intended as a new design for the Fender Jazz. Check out its surprising place in Fender history HERE: Fender Performer Bass - Wikipedia You either love or hate their looks, but the Performer's playability and punchiness is every bit as notable as its rarity. The tone ranges from smooth to aggressive, with great clarity and punch. The TBX control provides a gnarly boost beyond the tonal range of most passive basses. Very ergonomic, very fast instrument, and a real work of art at that. Looks as good on the wall as it does in your hands. While I don't have a scale -- my seven-year-old son smashed it last year -- it feels very light and comfortable, like a Jazz. This one is in excellent condition, mint except for a tiny little ding behind the neck at the joint, pictured. All three of the elusive "F" caps are intact! 1300 USD OBO, no trades please. Free shipping w/in Canada. Snazzy high quality Road Runner HSC included.
That shape is way ahead of its time! I can see a Skjold in that cut. I’ve never seen one of these before.... I really dig it. Glwts.
I got into these when one showed up at the music store I was working at in 1985. This is the one we had in stock: Here's one for sale on eBay many years later in green: And they made a guitar version, which I've never seen in real life before: That white color on yours is a Fender Japan color but not one I've ever seen on these before. Super rare instruments. Real fun to play and sound good. GLWTS! PS: also Olivia's Vintage kicks ass.
Thanks guys! With the exception of a tiny crack in the paint at the top of the body behind the neck (invisible from the front), it looks really new. Remarkable condition compared to my Jazz Bass Special from the same year.
if you saw my first response before i edited it, pay no regard ... i'd just woken up and thought i was in a different thread
