Reluctlantly I am willing to part with my pristine condition Hofner 187 Model Bass. I am also throwing in the companion piece the Hofner Model 180 Guitar. What makes this set unique is the fact that the serial numbers are consecutive.

28" scale on the Bass. Original Gig Bags and strings, I believe these to be 1982 Models. They are virtually unplayed.

I wont seperate them, PayPal is fine. 1550.00 gets them shipped to the lower 48.

If you Google the words "Hofner Shorty Badaway it will direct you to a site featuring my collection of these rare and unusual instruments. I couldn't get the site link to work on this thread.

More detailed pics on request, serious only please.

  2. Crazy! I saw a picture of one of those basses, but never in person and never a whole set.

If you go to that UK Hofner site you will see plenty more!

Experts estimate less than a hundred were made. I have 17 total! What makes this set so rare is that the serial numbers were left intact. Only a couple of my examples still have them. And these babies were over 500 bucks new in the eighties, not toys!

  4. Nice, baritone scale length, right?

    Bass Scale is 28"

Guitar is 24" I think. I thought Baritone was 30" scale.

I tuned the Bass to 440 and gigged away ( not this particular one I have otheres), the pickup bridge combination is capable. I love the warmth of the mahogany. These things are truley functional art and obviously painstakingly handmade.

  6. Alembic has a 28" "Baritone Guitar", while 30.75" is considered "short scale". These look more bass-like than the Alembic Baritone judging from the string spacing. That's all I know.
