    Hi TB,

I'm looking to start my first Pickup/Preamp replacement. My first bass, the Ray34, is going to be lucky recipient. I'm looking for a Pickup and Preamp to fit.

Pickup (single H pickup at the bridge):
I'm pretty much set on the Nordstrad mm4.2, but if something sounds as good for 1/2 the price, I'd be open to suggestion

Onboard Preamp (4 knobs, currently V/T/M/B, no stacks, I don't believe it has push/pull on the V but not sure right now):
This is what's hanging me up. Which Bartolini Preamp would work with this configuration? Any other maker suggestions?

Currently looking at the Bartolini NTMB-F. I think that will probably do it.

Any suggestions or advice are still appreciated.

If you like authentic Stingray goodness and you don't want to spring for John East electronics, I suggest the Mojotone Clone preamp. For pickups, Nordstrand and Delano make amazing 70's spec MM pickups and are worth the $$.

Thanks. I'm not really looking for a specific tone in general. Truthfully, I don't know what the "authentic" Stingray tone is to know if I like it or not. But I'll look into this.

I'm a Bart guy through and through. But here's a killer combo to consider as I have played on a bass that had this combo. A Nordy Big Man Pup with an Aggie OBP3. Yup works great in any "Rayish" Bass.
