Do the SABDDI's give a hotter signal than the RBI's when they are run in "line" mode??

I ask this because I'm having to run the "level" knob on my RBI at about 3 o'clock compared to me previously running my SABDDI at 12 o'clock in order to get the same volume.

  2. I dont think so, because the line in on the BDDI is so its at a decent level to go straight to power amp

The RBI is designed to do that anyway

Who knows, either way, your getting the volume you need, stop complaining :p

    one more question....

do you usually want to run your preamp level lower than your power amp?

YES! Poweramp all the way up or close to it and slowly pull up that Pre Level. I use SansAmp A LOT and love it.

Thanks Mike, that's what I was thinking.

I'm still wondering why the RBI output level doesn't seem to be up to par with the SABDDI? I left my power amp level exactly where it was before.....I used my friends active Pbass to test it out when i first hooked it up because my bass wasn't at our band room and it worked fine, then at practice last night I used my normal passive Jazz and I had to turn it up quite a bit.

Maybe they lowered the output signal to compensate for active basses?

After I bought my RBI used, I went to the tech21nyc.com website and emailed someone (don't remember the mailto). Within a few days they emailed me back a PDF of the RBI manual... very cool!

Seems to me that the RBI should be hotter because it's designed as a preamp, whereas the SABDDI is designed as a pedal. If you're having trouble with output of the RBI, make sure the input and output pads are set correctly. I'm looking at the manual now: try using the XLR output, and set the XLR output level to 0dB (engaged). That results in a line level signal that should easily drive a power amp.

Are you using the front input or the rear. The rear is louder (set to 0 db not -20 db).

Also, use the XLR SansAmp Output and set that to 0 db not -20 db.

I ahve never had a problem with it sending a hot signal to my poweramp.

so the front input is -20db? that may be the problem because that's the input I'm using.

  11. that'll be the difference you are noticing then, its a 20dB boost with the line in on the pedal itself

so it's +20db on the line input or is it 0 db?
