Watermelon pink? With a brown tortie guard? Black pickup? I think it would work. Discuss. http://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/krylon-indooroutdoor-paint-watermelon/6000092375004
Of course, open to other suggestions. Keep in mind, this thing is for my own indoor-non-professional use. And it's a cheap, but killer S101 bass.
To be honest, I'd love for fiesta red, but once I saw that colour, and coupled with a brown tortie swirl pickguard... I think this might actually look even better.
Hmm.... well, I do still have the plain white pickguard. I am in the process of having the tortie guard being cut for me. But I could see it working with both. Also, I made a mistake on the paint, it's actually this one that some local guys recommend: Apparently, all I need to do is sand the body just to break the glaze, spray a couple of coats of this stuff evenly, hang it properly, and I got myself a watermelon bass. OR.... Mandarin or Pumpkin? I think coupled with this type of tortie, either one is going to work:
I like the mandarin color a lot. Coincidentally, I walked out of the bright sun and into a flourescent-lit pawn shop a few weeks ago, and saw an orange P bass hanging on the wall. I fell in love based on the color alone, and hadn't seen the price or brand yet, but I wanted it. By the time I got over to where it was hanging, my eyes had adjusted to the lighting, and I could see that it was an overpriced " New York Pro," and it was hot pink.
Not sure about an all pink bass, but I once had an all white bass with a big pink flamingo painted on it as part of a promotion for a local radio station. They paid for the artwork and paid me so it was all good.
I would be very careful about a tort pickguard on a crazy color like that - might look great, but might clash horribly.
You can pretty much put any colour with tortie, so long as the tortie doesn't look crappy. I'm leaning more towards orange as time goes by.
Case in point: If the tortie was nicer, like it's going to be for my bass, this would be a killer combination. Colour-blind people might not agree, though...
