I was watching Dr. Strangelove today in Film class, and the theme they play during the Maj. Kong scenes is the tune "The Ants Go Marching" in various permutation.

I do know, however, that it's an actual classical(? ...ish) piece, not just a childrens song. Anybody know what the title of the original piece is called? I'd like to get a copy. If at all possible, the name of the theme (Much as O Fortuna is the theme from Carmina Bruena)?

    Bueller?

    Thanks.

Can't remember the film - but isn't that a play on words with "When the Saints go Marching in" ?

  3. AFAIK the song is originally called "When Johnny Come Marching Home" by Patrick Gilmore. It's from the revolutionary war era or something like that

Yes - you're right I remember it now - a Civil War song!! I think the title is obviously ironic though and could have many connotations!! ;)
