Realistic (Radio Shack) 12AX7

    this summer i found a realistic 12ax7 at a flea market for 1 buck. i finally got around to seeing if it works. it does. no big tone tests yet
    anyone know what kind of tube this is? as in who made them for radio shack?

    I worked for Radio Shack back in the mid '70s and I remember the tubes being made by several manufacturers including Sylvania, RCA and GE.

    If I had it, I could probably tell you what it is.

    There were various code systems that could tell you a lot about the origins of any mystery tube, but they have to still be there and legible.

    Alternately, you can recognize the internal structures of a lot of typical tubes as being from certain manufacturers.

    As has been pointed out, there were many, many suppliers of tubes to Radio Shack. Could be anything.
