The bridge pickup on my Highway1 jazz bass is sometimes quieter then my neck pickup... When I smack the strings really hard so a loud noise is picked up...the bridge pickup goes to full volume. I checked all of the solders and the connections and they all seem to be in order..this only happens once in awhile and not all the time, i can't seem to figure out whats wrong with it, any one know what the problem could be?
thanks in advance for any help.

Did you also check the solder joints that lead directly from the pickup, where the wires attach? Might have an issue there. Other than that, it might be a warranty thing if it's still a new bass.

checked all connections they seem fine, could it be the volume pot or the pickup itself?

It sure sounds like a short is present. If you have a circuit tester, you could check all of the connections to see if you can locate the short. If you don't have one but feel ambitious, you cold resolder the bridge pickup connections and see if that helps...
