    Hello,

This is my first post to this site........I was hoping someone could give me some advice...
I'm building my own jazz bass...on my other basses, I have active EMG pickups...this time I wanted to try something else....I was at a music store the other night and the clerk was telling me about Bartollini's and adding a preamp...I like a good punchy sound with some bottom to it too....anybody try something and liked it...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

    Thanks!!

Fender '60's custom shop, and no onboard electronics can get the job done if you have the technique.

Thanks....Are they a lot punchier than the pick ups that come with the American and standard jazz basses??? Those were a little too soft for my taste....

    Thanks...let me know!!

Can anyone recommend a pickup that has the punchy bright sound that the Music Man Stingray basses have......it has to work for a Fender Jazz bass body.

    Thanks!!

I'd think so, what bass do you have exactly?

Fender American Jazz bass.......I really like the sound of the Music Man basses.....very punchy highs and lows......I'm building a bass and already have the Fender body.....looking for the above mentioned pick ups for that music man sound..

If you want the music man sound then I'd imagine that putting a music man pickup would be the best thing for you. Just make the right sized hole for it and you should be fine. Oh, and remember to place it in the "sweet spot".

You already have a thread on the first page up about this. Why another?

I forgot to add about the music man pickup...if anything compared to it that I could put in a Fender body

Another vote for Aero. Type 1's, specifically.
