Recomend a good double gig bag

    Hi,

    I'm using my older Undercover double gig bag which although seems to be very well made isn't quite long enough to safely fit my long scale basses. It worked fine for my Stingrays, but now I'm playing basses up to 35" scale (Elrick, F Bass) and it's too tight to protect.

    I'm looking for something extremely protective with an extended scale length. I would like leather if possible, but if it's too expensive, I can do without. I need one pretty soon so I think a custom job is not feasible.

    Any recomendations?

    I have the Low End leather double gig bag, and it's very protective. Thick leather and a whole lot of plush padding. All the padding adds up to a bit of weight, so it's not super-light if that's what you need. Separate zippers for eazh bass as well- I didn't want the Incase Dub bag because of the one zipper/same compartment setup. You can order them from the company that makes them without the Low End logo as well, but I don't recall what the web address is. All my basses are 35", btw.

    Body Glove doesn't offer a double unfortunately (at least not the last time I checked).

    Not sure if Incase still sells the DubBag, but it's the best double bag that I have used, if you can classify it as a bag...

    I don't own one, but I've seen them, read reviews of them, plus they are great guys, and local (to me) so I'm going to have to suggest the LowEnd bag as well.

    Ritter makes a nice one that has plenty of pockets.

    I also have a leather gig bag from Low End, and it's amply big for two very large basses. It's also quite heavy, so you don't save as much weight as you might think compare to two hardshell cases. However, with the shoulder straps it IS easier to carry two basses around, if you're in good shape.

    I've been searching for the same thing. My criteria was:

    1) good protection;
    2) separate compartments and zippers so you don't have to take out 1 bass to get to the other one;
    3) not too heavy;
    4) affordable.

    The Low End bag is the absolute best, IMO. But it's expensive and heavy. If you can be careful and sacrifice a bit on protection, you can find other alternatives. Also, as someone else stated, if you don't want the Low End logo on the bag, you can buy direct from the manufacturer. Not sure of the turn-around time from them, though. Brian has them in stock at The Low End.

    Same thing for the Incase bags. HEAVY. Built like a tank. Way overkill for my purposes.

    Undercover doesn't have separate compartments, but many people love 'em.

    Couldn't find a dealer for Ritter.

    Mooradian doesn't have separate compartments, but it's nice and light with adequate protection.

    I finally decided on the ProTec bag. Fulfilled all of my criteria and I got another 5% TalkBass discount at The Perfect Bass.

    I've got the Warwick Double Rockbag. Very affordable (especially through The Perfect Bass), offers adequate protection, has a decent, usable shoulder strap setup, and is lightweight.
