I am looking for some "Thumb porn" music. Any artists or albums you can recommend where the Thumb growl is featured prominently?

Mudvayne - L.D. 50. It's all over that whole album. All of their albums really, but most prominent in that one.

dunno about the specific model, but 311 has always had a pretty identifiable 5-string 'wick tone to the bass.

Been listening to Mudvayne all day. Good stuff!!

P-Nut is a great player, but I just can't get into 311's Music, no matter how hard I try.

    Any other prominent Thumb players?

Jack Bruce played a Thumb a lot in the latter part of his career/life. I don't think the body is ovangkol or bubinga, but it's a Thumb with the Thumb sound. "Shadows in the Air" is representative and a great CD. The bassist for the Dave Matthews Band played a Warwick Dolphin Pro on the first few albums--which reminded me of the Thumb.

He's currently in a weird jazz fusion band called soften the glare. I don't care for the music itself but he f'n rips with them also.....also check out some old fishbone for thumb sound

    Any Karnivool album

    Or fretless

Soften the Glare is Ryan Martinies new instrumental band. Some really good songs on the album. Kind of reminds me of primus but with some jazz influences and no vocals. Playing a show with them in October.

I came to say this. LD50 is also their best album. The intro to Severed is sexy as hell.

  14. Def one of my favorite albums of all time

  15. This song I recorded with a thumb nt5 and a sans amp RBI

New album was recorded while I was between thumb basses but I'm playing the thumb NT6 now Which you can see this music video and there's some live audio at the beginning with the thumb before the song starts.

  16. A few others I've seen playing thumb basses

Story of the year before he moved on to Zon or pedulla

Scale the summits bassist plays custom and production thumb NT6.

Paul Gray from Slipknot actually was a Warwick endorser for years and when I saw Slipknot live he played a left handed nt4

    POD

Not the same band these days singer basically continued on using the band name without the band but puddle of mudds old bassist used thumbs

    Newer Job for a Cowboy

First bass player for Suicide Silence

    Dave from Dorje and Toska

custom shop nt7 fretless player. Played with Obscura for a while, can't remember what band he's in now

    John from Karnivool thumb NT6
Karnivool - New Day | Live in Sydney | Moshcam

The most recognizable imo is Ryan. I honestly think he cut lows on his basses because of you run thumb basses flat they have a ton of low end which I happen to love but Ryan has def developed his own sound.

Jonathan Dimond from Tripataka plays a NT Thumb 6-string

  20. On our debut album, I used a '98 Thumb (wenge on wenge) through a Darkglass B7K which was D.I.'d and also mic'd through an SVTCL and a Krych Custom 4x12. The tone is a little too "ganky" from the B7K to hear the Thumb growl through the grit, but it's definitely there in spots. Let me know what you think :) And the transition from The Call to Big D is the same bass rig but with some octave and fuzz kicked in for that velcro "tear"
