Recommend OD pedal like Fulltone OCD

I'm looking for an OD pedal, primarily for gritty pick playing but that would work for gritty fingerstyle as well. My observation on a few close pedals, so you may know where my mind is at:

    1. Fulltone OCD - I like this pedal a lot, but doesn't have a clean blend, and I think I'm losing some lows. I like everything else about it.
    2. Fairfield Barbershop Millennium - Not enough OD for what I'm looking for. The SAG knob is making the sound too dark when I adjust it.
    3. Source Audio Pro Bass Multiwave Distortion - Some nice tones. I like the blend. The grit is pretty good, but I like the grit of OCD more.

    Thanks for your help.

Big Game and Dunwich both make awesome and bass friendly OCD derivatives.

Dunwich ODB and COG Knightfall come immediately to mind.

Also- maybe try some RAT variants like the Dunwich Volt Thrower.

  4. Joyo Ultimate Drive gets good marks and reportedly has more low end retention.

I watched a lot of reviews and comparison videos of Ultimate Drive vs OCD, and I think OCD sounds too bright and thin on a bass, and that it is better suited for guitars, while Ultimate Drive is the better option for bass. I decided to go with Ultimate Drive, and I really like it. And the price is just amazing.

I haven't tried a ton of OCD-based pedals, but I love my Big Game Bedlam.

I would avoid the Joyo UD if you like low end. But I've heard many good things about the EHX OD Glove!

Find a Version one OCD and run it at 18v. It's the best version for bass IMO. Lots of bass the others lack.

Source Audio Aftershock. Lots of downloadable tones, you should be able to find one that fits you.

    Dunwich ODB.
  15. If you want to hear how the Fuzzrocious Demon King sounds with a low/medium gain and the gated tone, check out my recent post-

Dark Driving vs Cat King vs Demon King AUDIO

Personally, I love the Demon King/OCD-tone. The gain structure it totally usable and has clarity that wins out over a lot of other distortion pedals to me. Plus it has a tube-like compression and feel to it that is really amazing.

A year ago I did a poll on people's favorite OCD clones. Do a search on the Effects forum.

Love all the ODB suggestions. It's an awesome box, but good luck finding one.

I'd look at the CoG options if you want a clean blend.

Fuzzrocious Demon is worth a look.

And because someone always says it, not that I think you should, but it'll come up sooner or later because it always does, the Darkglass VMT7K UltraMegaOkay.

I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
IMO a nice OCD style variant is Joyo UD + used Boss LS-2 for clean blend. Total cost easily under $90. Just my 2 cents.

Actually, the line split or loop pedal isn't a bad idea. OP likes his OCD but mentions wanting a clean blend. One Control makes some nice, small ones. So do a few other builders.
