Recommendations for a Fuzz pedal with a blend knob

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by Gus Borden, Mar 30, 2009.

  1. Looking for recommendations for a fuzz pedal with a blend knob so I can dial in some of the un-fuzzed tone. I currently own an Electronix Messdrive Hybrid +. I love it, but I would love to dial in some of my clean tone - suggestions anyone?

Also, Bass Big Muff doesn't have a blend knob, but it does have a 50/50 dry mode which I've had no problems with so far.

The B:Assmaster has two volume controls, not a blend knob.

The Bass Face has a blend knob. :bag:

+1 I have both the B:Assmaster and the Depth Charge and I prefer the DC overall.
  10. Many thanks - I have lots more research to do now!

Out of curiousity - is it possible to mod a pedal to add a blend knob? Say to my Messdrive?
    Thanks again.

I can tell that the messdrive is to small to add another pot and more caps to it, pretty cramped.
  12. Yea - upon further inspection of the pedal (and by that I mean just looking at it - heh) I can see what you mean, thanks!

    The Smallsound/Bigsound Team_Awesome Fuzz Machine looks/sounds excellent.
Bass Big Muff actually sounds pretty good too - I'd rather more control over the blend than 50/50, but for the price, you can't beat it.

Some thinking to do! Thanks again, all!

A blender like a barge would only be 100 or so brand new. Used even less.
  14. Not quite sure how that works - what one would I get?

Very simple. You can put the messdrive into the loop of the barge. Then you use the knob to control how much you want blended back in. The VB-jr would be perfect.
  16. Ok - not to sound like a total idiot - I see how this works - but I want to be sure - if I run the Mess through the bypass, then is the mess left on and when I want to hit the fuzz, I hit the barge instead to toggle the fuzz on and off?

  20. Joe - I notice in another post you have - about the switches - something I should be concerned about using it for this function?

    Thanks again (and again)
