Im thinking of building a fretless, can anyone recommend a bridge Piezo, MM puckup, and preamp that would all work nicely together?

Ive never done a Piezo before.

Would any under saddle piezo work (like an acoustic guitar saddle cut for bass) or would a saddle system work better?

Soundwise, In looking to build something that can get an 80s Pino sound (a la MM) and a Rob Allen-y DB sound via the Piezo.

    Then what pre-amp?
I would love something filter based, or with a sweep able mid to get that bump.

Any recommendations and help would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks for responding.

    So....
Nobody wants to talk about Piezo pickups???

    Chirp...chirp..chirp.

    :(

  3. I'm at the same place...
I've got a fretless Precision that I'd like to put a piezo pickup (a bridge replacement, really) and a suitable preamp. I do not need to blend magnetic/piezo signal, I was planning to install a switch for either/or.
It's a cheap Precision but really nice player, meaning that I have no issues carving cavities in it, I just want it to have the piezo pickup sound which I think is very sweet on a fretless with tapewounds.

    Any ideas?
Especially if they sound reasonably good and don't cost the Moon ;)
