Recommendations on J-Bass pickups that handle a little bit of distortion, but keep their punch.

I am considering replacing my stock Fender Highway-1 jazz pickups and have listened to a ton of reviews on YouTube, but I know nothing about electronics and pickups.

My band plays a weird mix of alt, punk, surf, and new wave. You can hear a more indie/alt song here that features the bass heavily, but I also want it to be flexible for some more vintage/surfy tones.

Live I use pick and play through a Sansamp. I have been really digging Curtis Harding's bass player's tone lately. Here's an example of a live performance.

Based solely on youtube videos I have been impressed with Seymour Duncan Apollos and Nordstrand NJ4s. Any other recs?

Last time I needed Jazz pickups (and admittedly it’s been awhile) I called Lindy Fralin and actually got him on the phone, explained to him what I was looking for and he sent a perfect set for what I needed. Worth a try
