    I currently have the following...

Ibanez SR800A Sound Gear Bass Guitar
    ZOOM BFX-708 Bass Effects Pedal
    Peavey Deltabass 160watt head
    Peavey Blackwidow BX-BW Cab

I was wondering I play in a heavy metal band, and have been pondering over wether or not to get a better effects pedal, what multi-effects pedals do people recommend with a good bass distortion?

i guarantee you that none of us will recommend you multi-effects.

maybe you should try a big muff by ehx?

there're some real distortion freaks here who'll be able to help you out.

    buzz on a budget?

    muff, boss odb-3, a rat (don't like'em, personally), ibanez phat-hed (some people really like'em).

    me? i have a boss.

i have one. i don't necessarily USE it...
  3. i suggest the following in this order:
    1. Throw out the zoom pedal
    2. Get new bass
    3. Fulltone bassdriver (just started falling in love with it all over again)

oh and NO multi-effects pedal will have a good bass distortion... sorry...

a few people have the dredgetone angler, which is a lil over $100.

also, the black box x-ray. not sure about that one. stevekim had that one for a lil while (along with every other frickin distortion unit ever made!). not sure if he liked it. it costs a few more than the angler.

then there's the "boutique" stuff like z-vex. but that'll be more than a mim fender, iirc.

I'm one of the few that would recommend a multi-fx unit. I had the BFX708, and it was poo really. I've just got a GT6B, and it pees all over it.
It has got about 7 dist model, including the main Boss ones (Metal Zone, ODB3, Turbo overdrive etc), which to my ears are dead ringers. It also has a Marshall Guv, Big Muff, which sounds gorgeous and a couple of others.
You also get 6 amp models, which you can overdrive to get tube type dist.
