Recording with GK Question

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by metallist, Aug 20, 2012.

  1. Hi All,

I am thinking of doing some recording with my Gallien Kruger 700RBII (basically not happy with the amp patches in Garage Band).

Am I able to run the amp without any cabs connected and simply record using the DI or will running the amp without cabs damage it?

I have recorded with the DI in the past with no issues but I was running the cabs.

    Cheers, Simon.

The GK is a solidstate amp. You won't have any issues. Recording and running a tube head is what you want to avoid, specifically a tube power section. You can use hybrids with a solidstate power section to record without a cab plugged in.
  3. Sweet. Thanks for you're help!
