When I was in my bass playing heyday 12+ years ago, 5-string basses were unheard of (at least to me). Since I picked bass up again a while back, I've been interested in getting a 5er. Most guitar shops 'recommend' what they sell of course, so I thought I would open it up here...and I'm sure it's been covered before but I think it's good to refresh a topic occassionally rather revisiting old posts.

I would *like* to stay around $500-$600. I can afford more but my wife is liable to strip me of my manhood if I go much higher....I have had a few recommendations for Ibanez models....

    Thanks...Piobaire

MTD Kingston 5. The best 5 in your price range on the planet.

You could probably pick up a used Carvin LB75 for around that.

I would agree with the other guys here.. Either an MTD Kingston Or a used lakland Skyline would be the best bass.. they are probably the best basses under $1000

  9. Another vote for the Kingston.I had one and it played great and sounded very good.Only got rid of it to finance a bass twice as expensive.
