I was recently up at GC and I saw a rectangular bass. It was 400 dollars used, I picked it up as a joke and jammed on it with a friend. I was suprised by its good tone but forget what it was.

Other than that, GC was great. I went early on Thursday and there was not another person in the store for 3 hours. Then a guitarist walked in and tried to plug into a 200 watt amp while it was on. We were almost blown on the floor.

The place was spotless. They had a ton of great prices, insane amounts of good used gear, and very friendly guys.

Bo Diddley is famous for his rectangular guitar, made by gretsch:

Never heard of a bass version, though, and there's none on the Gretsch site. Maybe a custom?
