There's a promotional add for Ampeg, with Oscar Pettiford. Apparently he hung around their New York shop. I always felt the Baby Bass sounded better with a real bridge, that metal and rubber nonsense they came up with sounded terrible. Zorko has the right idea, and really were the ones who created the instrument. Ampeg just bought rights be the sole manufacturer of the bass. Everett Hull liked the design and Jess Oliver refined the electronics.
That's very cool. I never heard of Zorko.
What's up with the double bridge?
If I recall correctly one bridge had an odd magnetic pickup arrangement and the other bridge reduced the down force on it.
Zorko sold their design to Ampeg where it became the Baby Bass.
