What would be some easy, non-invasive methods of reducing the weight of a bass? Say we're talking about a G&L SB-1 or an L2K?

IMO, there isn't alot of room on either of those two basses to do it uninvasively, especially if they're the made in USA ones with the tuning keys with the aluminum posts.

i don't know how heavy the G&L knobs are (but for example, the new fender AVRI P bass knobs are chrome plated brass and weigh a ton). i found some chromed aluminum p bass knobs that weigh the same as the 60's ones and that's what i use on my newer P's. it only saves about 3 oz, but every little bit helps.

    without effecting tone

    1. u can change the tuning pegs to hipshot ultralites, i change my 5er and it shaves 200grams+

    2. change the knobs, i change mine to a ultra light david king wooden knobs, save a few hundred grams there.
