    This amp is largely based on the legendary Hiwatt DR-201 amplifier, which can definitely be seen in the styling and overall aesthetic of the design. It runs on a power section of 4x KT-88 power tubes, and 3x 12ax7 and one 12at7 in the preamp section. It is a very loud amplifier, and actually bench tests at higher than its rated output of 225w, landing instead in the range of 250-265. This amp is totally handbuilt using turret-board construction with point-to-point wiring (NO pcbs whatsoever)... this is an amp that is built to be repairable, and to last forever! The amp features massive over-specced power and output transformers, which deliver clean low end and gobs of power to the speakers. It's every bit as loud and powerful as an SVT, but with the benefit of lower weight (61 lbs versus the SVT's 90+) and lower maintenance costs due to a lower number of power tubes.

    Sound-wise, this amp is absolutely massive. It has a special quality of depth to it... things sound "3-D" plugged into it. I have no idea how it does this, but this amp really just feels deeper and more detailed than probably any other amp I've every played.

    Great! Glad it found a home. I was trying to figure out if I was brave enough to try having it shipped!

    I’m sitting in the music room listening to “The Who - Live at Leeds” using a Reeves 400 for the turntable (no stereo amp yet) so I guess I’m getting HiWatt x 2.
