Im considering having by Korean Tobias bass refinished in a black stain. is it a lot of work to remove the current transparent finish???? also it it possible to remove the gloss finnish on the wenge neck???? i prefer the open grain feel of my warwick...

Any ideas of how much it will cost for the black stain refinish????

You won't get an open grain feel unless you do major sanding because wenge's pores are deep and currently they are filled with either grain filler or, more likely in your case, the same finish that is on the neck. If you don't mind changing the neck shape it's possible but if you only take off enough finish to just expose wood you'll still have a smooth surface - just not glossy.

I think you are in for more work/hassle for more than it is worth IMO.
