Here's a pic of a Tokai Thumb knockoff that I refinished natural few days ago. I just couldn't bare anymore the reddish-brown "hey-is-this-some-exotic-wood" staining topped with a thick layer of lacquer.

It came out pretty well and certainly looks better now. A light-coloured Thumb is a pretty exotic sight, don't you think? :)

BTW. I would be intrested to know what kind of wood that is in the body.

The finish is bare wood protected with some beeswax (I love the smell). And no, that is not a genuine Warwick, you can tell it from the neckjoint and from the fact that I paid only about $300 for it.

  6. Very nice refinish job, Ens :D

I refinished the fingerboard on my 55-94 a couple weeks back. I think it turned out pretty well -

Good job guys. The wood on the Tokai looks like ash to me.
