Reggae Musician Bunny Wailer — Founding Member of the Wailers R.I.P.

Bunny Wailer, a founding member of the Wailers and a reggae music giant whose career spanned seven decades, has died at the age of 73.

Wailer’s manager, Maxine Stowe, confirmed that Wailer died on Tuesday at the Medical Associates Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica. No cause of death was given, but Wailer had been in and out of the hospital since suffering his second stroke, in 2020.

Wailer, born Neville Livingstone — before adopting his famous moniker, he was also known as Bunny Livingstone — was a member of the original Wailers trio with Bob Marley and Peter Tosh.

  5. I did not know the part about being step-brothers:

"Born on 20 April 10, 1947, Livingston spent his earliest years in the village of Nine Miles, where he was raised by his father, Thaddeus, who ran a grocery store.

That was where he first met Marley, and the toddlers soon became firm friends, making their first music together at Stepney Primary and Junior High School.

Following the death of Marley's father in 1955, his mother, Cedella, moved in with Livingstone's father. The boys were essentially raised as step-brothers, especially after Cedella and Thaddeus had a daughter together, Pearl."

So sad to hear about Bunny’s passing. I wore out my copy of “Blackheart Man” and especially love the song “Armagideon”. Aston Barrett and Robbie Shakespeare play on that album.

Thank you for the grooves, the memories, and the inspirations, Bunny!
