so , I had a rehearsal this evening at the music store my buddy runs... I brought my #1 with me but thought what the heck, I'll see if they've got anything new in. So, to my surprise, they had of all things, a MIM Reggie Hamilton 4 string. So I thought, what the heck, it's a "Classic Rock" set we're rehearsing tonight so why not. ...... :scowl: I can't believe that I have a gear chubbie for a MIM, MIM for cryin' out loud!! Reggie Hamilton 4 string!!! the thing was set up like crap, but played sooooo good and the sound was awesome. Totally filled out the 4 piece perfectly!! I even tried to switch to a Marcus 4 but got shunned by the rest of the band before we could even start a song. what a great bass this is. Definitely worth the looking at if anyone's ever wondered. Would love to try an actual Custom Shop Reggie just to see if it's got the same mojo!
I owned one of these, and they are set up unlike ANY MIM that I've played, and I've played QUITE a few. I read (HC maybe?) that the signature models that are made outside of the US are treated like Custom Shop instruments are here in the states, dunno if that's true or not, but those basses are NO JOKE. I didn't care for the preamp completely (too flimsy IMHO) but that bass kicked BUTT. I have said on here before that if I had a signature instrument built it'd be a Jazz w/ P for the neck pickup, although mine would be made by Lakland
Oh man this thread tortures me! I've been GASing so hard for a reggie sig recently it's untrue. I'm just waiting for a potential seller to get back to me on a second hand one and then maybe, just maybe, I can get my hands on it!
I have one of these, and it's an incredible bass! Set up beautifully right out of the box, and plays like butter, fantastic neck. The only odd thing is the lack of tone controls in passive mode, but I don't even miss it, I'm always in active. And it's nice to know that if the battery dies, you're still okay.
