Is it alright to use a distortion pedal designed for regular 6 string guitar with a bass guitar? I heard that it is not a good idea because the bass is a lower frequency and it can cause problems. Any input on this is welcome.

    Hi Agmundr,
    Welcome to talkbass!
It shouldn't damage your equipment. However some guitar effects may not respond as well as you might hope as they're not designed with a bass guitars lower frequencies in mind. For example- If you use overdrive or wah that is designed primarily for guitar you may find that you lose a lot of low end from your tone.
Useful tip- if you do a search before you post and you may find that a stack of people have asked trhe same question before. It can save a lot of time and If questions come up too frequently they tend to get overlooked entirely by the more die hard talkbass users.
