Help, I have just got a new Rickenbacker 4003 and want to remove the treble pickup cover, so I unscrewed the large screws to each side and tried to pull the guard out. However it wouldn't come away and now the screws will not go back in. I'd read that this was a really easy oeration, so what have i done wrong?

    George :(

  2. Did you ever get an answer to this...I just did the same thing and now I can't get it back on or off.

  3. Never mind...after fooling with it I remember you have to take the whole cover off, not just the shoe...duh.

    Hi all,

New 4003 owner here. Sorry if this question has been answered, but do you have to remove the strings before removing the pickup cover?

    i think so.

that cover is just a piece of chrome-plated plastic, unlike the rest of the bridge pickup mounting assembly which is actually metal. i'd lose it right away.
