I've heard that to get a less aggressive tone, people have removed the springs under G&L pickups to lower them into the body. I was thinking about doing this to get them alittle lower than they are now (down as far as they can go with the spring). I was just wondering if in order to remove the springs, can I just take the screws out and lift the pickup out enough to get the spring out, or do I have to disconnect the pickup?

You got it right....no need to disconnect the pickup. I had to do this to my Tribute L-2500 to get it to "behave".
