Removing the grill

Discussion in 'Recording Gear and Equipment [BG]' started by Jure the second, Sep 19, 2002.

  1. Hi.

When miking a cabinet, do you remove the grill, which is protecting the speakers? I noticed more headroom when I removed it. What are your experiences?

  2. depending on you type of speaker cabinet grill, it may or may not make a difference. You are probably simply imagining the "more headroom". The only way that you would experience a different would be if the speaker grill is VERY far away from the speaker cone.
