How would I go about doing this? I don't know how and I don't want to try pulling them by force. Any help?

  2. if youre talking about the actual knobs off the pots and the the assembly in itself, some knobs have tiny set screws on their side, just find some eyeglass screwdrivers. others you can just pull off or carefully pry up with something like a regular screwdriver.

    I like 5, 8, 10, and 12 string basses
wire your pickups directly to the output jack ... but leave the ground wire to the bridge.

You get a wide open sound. A similar way to get a wide open sound is to wire your bass with 1000k ohm volume and tone pots. You get the wide open sound and you can still adust volume and tone.

Yes the actual plastic knobs on my Jazz bass. Sorry I didn't mention that in the original post.
