You like it? For kids? For famlies? For singles? Pros? Cons? Yep, I've got a couple of fine job offers and the two best appear to be in Dallas and Reno.
i interviewed out in reno last october. it was a really cool town -- very different from my michigan upbringing. i liked it a lot, though it was a bit small. of course, being close to lake tahoe helps with some of that. also, it's a couple three hours from sacramento and another hour more to san francisco. in october, it was in the mid 50s all day and sunny, but then the sun set over the mountains and the temperature dropped something like 28 degrees in two hours. it was insane. dallas is a lot cool. i probably don't need to tell you that. robb.
Wally Malone, one of the mods at musicplayer.com's low down lowdown lives in northern california and frequently gigs in the tahoe region, which is near enough reno to warrant comment. perhaps you could contact him, or i could relay your questions to him. i think tahoe's proximity is worthy of comment, given that, though reno is much smaller than dallas, it does have lake tahoe nearby. robb.
Thanks. I want to know, well, for lack of a better focused question, about what it's like living there, raising kids, etc.
Hey Jim. I guess that your questions didn't really get answered here, but have you got better answers to your questions from other sources? I guess I have similar questions. (I'm spending the summer here in Reno, and my family will join me here later in the summer) What places have you found to listen to music and/or jam? What about gear? Anyway, let me know. Thanks in advance.
Although I've lived in Vegas since '88, I've played Reno and the surrounding area (Lake Tahoe, Carson City, etc.) dozens of times. The area is mountainous and beautiful. Very Denver like. Although it does get cold and snowy in the winter, the summers are much milder than Vegas. If there was as much work there as here in Vegas...I wouldn't be living here.
