RENTING my bass gear in NYC

I figured this would be a good place to test the waters (mods might get upset if I put this anywhere else).

I built up quite a nice gear collection over the years (a lot of saving, trading up, and begging loved ones). However, I literally haven't played a gig since last June due to my band... dis-banding.

I'm not ready to sell anything yet, but I figured there's a market for folks that just need to borrow a nice American Fender P bass or REDDI for a recording project, or a featherweight Aguilar rig for a touring band doing a quick stop in NYC.

The platform I'm using is a new startup that uses the "AirBnB" business model called Rentah. Profile here: Rentah | Welcome to the Sharing Economy

    Interesting idea.

So this is basically a for profit business that you're starting and advertising for in miscellaneous? I think you'd need to be a commercial user for something like this.

No... it's not my company. I have no vested interested in this startup other than being an eager first-time user. I simply am communicating the service I'm using (without talking about pricing). FWIW – I am a supporting member, but this didn't feel right posting in classifieds. Keep in my mind, this only applies to the NYC region.

Oh I thought this was your business. My bad.

So what do they charge for say, an American standard jazz? I think GC does something like $40 a day.

It's all user-driven like AirBnB or Task Rabbit... a marketplace of stuff to rent from regular people. I don't own a jazz, but I'll be renting both my P-basses. Hopefully the platform takes off once their app launches!
