If I am posting this in the wrong forum, please forgive me. I have a midnight wine Jazz that has a few nicks in the finish. I know that Gibson has lacquer pens for repair, but can I get a pen like that for my Fender? I know nicks add the character of the bass, but I don't want it to have character yet. :D

I have heard of people heating up the surrounding finish and blending out the nicks. I'm sure it depends on the finish and I don't know if this is something a non-luthier could handle. Anyone know?

Can a guitar tech handle such nicks? Im already paranoid about the finish on my red 57 P Reissue. Im a big oaf and realize it's just a matter of time ...

I traded a guy for this bass. The nick is really minor, but I am a klutz and it's a nice bass.
