Replace J99 pickups with EMG on carvin

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by bassmusic808, Jun 29, 2002.

  1. Hi. I did some searching on the board but didn't find the answer to this question exactly. Thinking about buying a carvin LB70. I don't doubt that their pickups are good, but I've grown accustomed to the EMG's I put in my Ibanez. Anyone know if the EMG-J pickups fit the J style slots on a carvin and work with their active electronics?

Carvin uses the same size pup for the bridge and neck, which they say is the same size as a Jazz Bass bridge pup. The dimensions in their latest catalog are 3.72" long, .72" wide, and .80" high. So a set of EMG-J's might not drop right in, as the neck and bridge pups are different sizes.

You have to get two of the bridge-sized EMG-Js. That's what I did for my 1992 Carvin LB70. They are a direct replacement, and for me, made a significant improvement...

  4. Does EMG have a jazz style PU for 6 strings? It didn't look like it on their website...
